Guest Blog: Dressing Hollywood while Rocking SHAG, Meet our Brand Ambassador Aneesah Moore

The moment she opens her mouth to speak, you know she is special. One of those once in of a lifetime people. The ones who are not only beautiful and talented, but quick, witty, smart, and their stories are so captivating that before you know it, you've been talking to them all day. Aneesah Moore wears many hats and quite frankly, she rocks them all. A true and rare LA Native, Moore studied Art and Marketing at La Sierra University in Riverside. After graduating she took the music industry by storm as a booking and talent coordinator. She was known as the "Indie Queen" and any one who wanted to play in LA knew to go through her. For over a decade she ran the Indie Music scene, crossed over to booking DJs, and then starting managing artists. She took managing full circle when she started to manage Taylor Locke of the band Rooney. She went to Rooney's shows as a teen, worked at the booking agency that booked the band, then ultimately managed Taylor Locke. From Taylor Locke to Skrillex, Local Natives, Gavin Turek, and Haim, Aneesah has made a huge impact in the music community. With Haim especially, Moore remembers booking their very first show at the Troubadour, witnessing their beginning stages and watching them take off.

Though she took the music industry by storm, she was ready for a new adventure. Aneesah had started dabbling in production in 2012 at the MTV Music Awards, when in 2014 a friend asked her to work on a show on VH1 called SoundClash. She had found her new calling, Talent. She loved being a Talent Assistant and she was good at it (of course), but something special happened in 2017 when Gamila Smith needed a Wardrobe Assistant for a VMA photo shoot.

She always had an eye for art and an enviable fashion sense -- so where she landed next made perfect sense. Meet Aneesah Moore, Costume and Wardrobe Extraordinaire.

Her career has EXPLODED and she is more than making her mark in the industry. Since 2017 she has worked on:

  • Million Dollar Mile
  • Superintelligence
  • All That
  • A.P. Bio
  • The Titan Games
  • Hollywood Game Night
  • The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell
  • World of Dance
  • The Gong Show
  • Teen Choice 2018
  • Wear It to Win It
  • Rantelodeon
  • Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2018
  • Lip Sync Battle Shorties
  • The 23rd Annual Critics' Choice Awards
  • 2017 MTV Video Music Awards
  • Teen Choice Awards 2017

What has been the most unique experience in costume and wardrobe?

Each experience is different, there are so many different and unique actors that I get the pleasure to meet and interact with. Wardrobe helps portrays a story, each look can change the character. The process of going into the making of the costume is just so amazing. You work so hard to bring these costumes to life, and once you see it on the actor your vision comes to life. It's always unique to see the work you've done on television and knowing that you did that. It's a process but If you're passionate about what you do, it doesn't always feel like work. I love seeing the cast happy and seeing how it all came out! When you see the cast members smile, you know your work is meaningful, they always tell us we're their favorite department.

Who inspires you?

Ruth Carter, I love her work, I love who she is and what she stands for. I would love to work with her, she's a huge inspiration. I'm hoping that I can run into her in the costume houses and get the opportunity to work beside her.

How did you become a SHAG Ambassador?

I met Nicola through a mutual friend in 2016, and was told I HAD TO see her product! I instantly fell in love with both Nicola and SHAG. Shortly after, I began modeling for SHAGBAGG and became one of her Brand Ambassadors. Our friendship is so special, we both help each other creatively and bounce ideas off of each other. SHAG makes you feel good and elevated when you put it on and wear it, I am proud to be an Ambassador.

What made you fall in love with SHAG?

I love that SHAGBAGG is always recreating and redesigning themselves as a brand. When I met Nicola, it was just its SHAG BOMBERS, BACK PACKS, WRISTLETS, POUCHES, the list goes on and it's always continuously evolving. She's always so innovative with her designs, using different textiles and styles, and the texture is just so fun -- it's like seeing the RAINBOW! I would love to see SHAGBAGG reach an upper level of fashion, I see it be couture, everyone loves how fun and vibrant it is. It's just so reminiscent of the 60s and 70s decades, I truly just believe in it so much and want to see it go so far.
What is your favorite SHAG product?
This is so hard, I love them all. I love the SHAG Back Pack, the insulated Fanny Pack, the Reversible Bomber Jacket, the SHAGKINIS are so fun for the summer. I can't pick, I love them all.
What SHAG product would you like to see next?
I would LOVE to see a SHAG Blazer, similar to Chanel Blazer with the defined shoulders, without shoulder pads -- but in SHAG. That would be so cool!
