It was all a dream.
Nicola Angelos, founder and designer of SHAGBAGG, has always known she was meant to create. She studied fashion her entire life with one intention: to build a brand that people could react to, adapt to, and have fun with. Something that didn't just look good — but felt like something.
In 2010, while attending design school, the idea arrived the way the best ones do — in her sleep. She dreamed of a shaggy bag, and woke up knowing she'd found it: that out-of-the-box concept she'd been searching for. Tactile, bold, completely unlike anything else on the market.
The deeper inspiration was always the late 1960s — a moment in history when peace and revolution were expressed through what people wore. Make love, not war. Groovy. Peace and Love. Not just slogans, but a way of life. Nicola saw a parallel in today: a generation desperate to break out of self-imposed constructs, looking for ways to express something real.
SHAGBAGG became the answer. Traditional silhouettes paired with nonconventional, retro-inspired SHAG — the familiar made extraordinary.
Every SHAGBAGG piece is made by hand in Los Angeles, by people Nicola knows personally. That's not a marketing line — it's the foundation of the brand. The craft, the care, and the community behind it are part of what you're carrying when you carry SHAG.
The dream started in 2010. It hasn't stopped since.
